Anantara Kihavah Maldives is one of the very first luxury resorts that I’ve ever been to in the Maldives back in 2011. It has the world’s 2nd underwater restaurants in the Maldives and also located in my most favorite Baa Atoll! Over the years, after visiting many other Maldives properties, Anantara Kihavah Maldives is still one of my favorites. Stepping back onto this lush and beautiful island after nearly a decade, I didn’t think much as changed, surely the rooms are a bit older but it didn’t lessen the charm. The atmosphere and island facilities are super well maintained, if not they’ve added more elements and activities for guests to enjoy.

Accommodations + Service
There are 6 different room categories here at Anantara Kihavah - ranging from different size Beach villas and over water villas. All the rooms are equipped with private infinity pool with direct beach access or access to the lagoon! The design of the overwater villas here at Anantara Kihavah Maldives is still one of my all time favorites, connecting an open spaced bathroom to a decent size infinity pool overlooking the Indian Ocean. The infinity pool has direct access from the room, the pool deck, as well as from the bathroom, guests can pretty much access the infinity pool from all parts of the villa. Another unique feature that Kihavah offers is the glass bottom bathtub, it’s quite scary at first but I thought it’s quite a lovely touch!

Activities + Spa
Baa Atoll is the only UNESCO protected Atoll in the Maldives, and also where you’ll find the most numbers of Manta Rays during the season. It’s definitely one of the highlights of visiting resorts in the Baa Atoll. Besides that, the coral reefs and water clarity is always amazing!

The entire Spa facility here at Kihavah is overwater, there are 6 treatment rooms, an island facing nail salon and beauty salon (the view for doing a medi or pedi care is just amazing!), also indoor and outdoor showers, steam room and an incredible relaxation area! There are many different types of massages to choose from, and I highly recommend doing a 90 minutes treatment!

Restaurants and Bars
There are 6 dining outlets at Anantara Kihavah, and all guests can arrange for special destination set ups and room service. :

  • SEA, the world’s 2nd underwater restaurant, serving from breakfast, lunch, and dinner, reservation is highly recommended as it’s always fully booked. This is definitely my most favorite spot on the island! Comparing my experiences from 2011 and 2019, I can only say Anantara Kihavah has done an absolutely amazing job in maintaining this restaurant and adding more coral reef to the surrounding.

  • SALT, serving asian cuisines over water, located right above the SEA restaurant.

  • FIRE, japanese restaurant, only opens for dinner. Teppanyaki over the water, serving different kinds of fresh seafood to prime meat and sashimi.

  • SKY, probably the best place to watch sunset and enjoy a lovely drink!

  • Plates, serves breakfast and dinner, international buffet.

  • Manzaru, next to the main pool and services pool side drinks and Mediterranean cuisine for lunch.
