Excellence El Carmen and Excellence Punta Cana are located approximately 30 mins away from Punta Cana International Airport and 70 minutes from La Romana International Airport. They are sister properties of The Excellence collection resort, both properties are located just 5 minutes apart along the same coast line.

There are nearly 500 suites at Excellence El Carmen Dominican All Inclusive Resort, all with its individual balcony, with half the rooms having direct access to a swim up pool or private pool. Excellence El Carmen is a huge property, every building has its own swimming pool, so there are over 20 swimming pools all around the resort! However, often times guests still enjoy coming to the main pool because they can enjoy music, drinks, play games, and do group exercises! It also has a nice ocean view and many lounge chairs in the water for sunbathing. The overall architect and design around the resort at Excellence El Carmen is modern contemporary, there’s a lot of open space, grass fields, and palm trees within the resort.
Excellence Punta Cana, Dominican Republic All Inclusive Resort has been around for many years, and it has recently been renovated. The moment you enter the resort lobby here, it gives off more of a tropical vibe when compared to the Excellence El Carmen. There are over 450 suites here at Excellence Punta Cana, and again all with a balcony view. There are less suites with an individual plunge pool here at Excellence Punta Cana, however, there are 4 main pools (2 of which in the Excellence Club) around the resort for guests to enjoy the facilities! There’s a public jacuzzi near the beach front, and that’s definitely one of my favorite spots at the resort.
The Excellence Club
This club membership provides guests with more personalized, more private, and exclusive service. When selecting a room under the excellence suites, guests are automatically entitled to private check in & check out, access to excellence lounge from 7am - 11 pm, concierge desk at every building for fast and personal services, complimentary beach bag for use during stay, shoe shine service, daily fruits and petit fours in the room, express Room service delivery time, and also one Aqua wellness treatment per person per stay! Ultimately, by selecting the excellence room category, guests will automatically receive all the benefits listed above to ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay.
Fitness Center and Cardio + Spa + Activities
At the Excellence El Carmen, there is an impressive range of exercising equipment and classes. This deluxe exercise facility is over 4000 square feet, it includes many cardio machines and daily yoga and aerobic classes. Millé Spa at Excellence El Carmen is located right above the lobby, overlooking the both the mountain and the ocean.
At the Excellence Punta Cana, there are also a full range of activities and exercise machines, including free weights, stair climbers, treadmills, exercise bikes and more, but what stood out the most it’s the jogging course that spans over 607 meters. The Spa here at Excellence Punta Cana are overlooking a beautiful garden view.
Spa facilities at Excellence Resorts are all equipped with Swedish sauna, Aromatic Steam bath, Swan shower, Ice treatment room, and Aqua Wellness Hydrotherapy. The Aqua Hydrotherapy pool is equipped with swan-neck & waterfall high pressure water hoses, and lounge sitting areas in the pool for guests to relax. The Aqua wellness treatment also includes a 5 minutes massage at the relaxation area. Both Millé Spa facilities at Excellence El Carmen and Punta Cana also have it’s own beauty center, offering hair, make up, manicure and pedicure treatments.
Dining
Excellence El Carmen and Excellence Punta Cana have many of the same restaurants and bars, and even share the same exact menu. Both resorts have a wide selections of food options for guests to enjoy during their stay.
The Kitchen, the main buffet restaurant that opens for both breakfast and lunch daily, offers lots of fresh fruit and juices and order to make stations.
Spice, opens for dinner, serves Asian cuisine, including a la carte menu of eastern fusion, and teppanyaki station.
The Grill, steakhouse restaurants that serves an a la carte menu. Also one of my favorite restaurants here at Excellence, serves a good range of meat selection and side dishes.
Agave, Mexican restaurant, offers a la carte dinner.
Magna, the excellence club member restaurant that serves a la carte breakfast and dinner.
The Lobster House, serves a la carte breakfast, and different types of seafood, with a focus on Lobsters for dinner!
The Flavor Market, opens for dinner, serves Spanish tapas with variety of fine wine pairings.
Chez Isabelle, serves French food, and probably the most popular restaurant at the Excellence.
Oregano, opens for lunch and dinner, serves Italian food, perfect if you want to get a salad or pasta.
Las Olas, a beach snack grill restaurant that also offers pizza takeaway.
Basmati, a contemporary Indian Cuisine at dinner time. (only at Excellence El Carmen)
Market place, opens from 7am to 10pm daily, with ice cream station, pastries, snacks and drinks.
